Newsletter Week 12 11/5-11/9


Week 12 11/5-11/9

Reminders: 
     -Health Week: if your child is not eating at school, please remember to send a lunch with them. The only other option for lunchless children is to give the Mac and Cheese.

     - Field trip to the Capital in Jackson Friday! Please leave your house or the school by 7:30 a.m. Your child needs to be in his/her school uniform

    - If your child is going to miss a day of school (especially test days), please let me know ASAP so that I can plan all missing assignments. Also, if you will miss a test, then your child will need to take it before the planned absence. This does not apply to excused sick days. Thank you for understanding and working together to aid in your child's success. 

This week:
       Reading: Test over "Liberty Porter" on Thursday, 11/8/12
      Language Arts: Complex sentences
      Math: New unit which depends the discussion of subtraction. Please keep working on your basic math facts for addition and subtraction
      Science: Primary focus on the Animal Kingdom. We have been learning about the different living organisms and their kingdoms 

Spelling words and sentences: focus is on the -ew- pattern 

  • Spelling and Vocabulary:

  • 10. color
  • 1. She ate the stew and grew big in just a few weeks.
  • 2. A few of the shapes have four sides.
  • Vocabulary: 
  • 1. boring- not interesting or exciting
  • 2. ducked- to bend down suddenly, normally when trying to keep from being hit
  • 3. suppose- to think or imagine
  • 4. celebration- a joyous gathering, usually to mark important events
  • 5. furious- very angry
  • 6, graceful- lovely way of moving
  • 7. develop- to make something better or to improve something 
  • 8. features- traits or characteristics which describe something or someone
  • 9. feat- an amazing act
  • 10. heroine- a woman who has done something very brave or helpful
