Newsletter Week 8 10/1-10/5


REMINDER: The Unit 2 performance is Friday, 10/5, at 1:45. Those who have speaking parts were sent home with their lines yesterday and today. Please be working on these lines so they are memorized by next week's performance rehearsals.

Please be checking folders for signed papers and forms- especially the field trip forms for Michael Farms to be returned Monday.

Friday, 10/5, the Jaywalkers are performing for a BDS fund raiser at Cooperstown.

This Week:

Latin: There is a Latin test on Thursday

Language Arts: We will continue discussing Prefixes and Suffixes- primarily focusing on Suffixes this week. We did not take a quiz over prefixes this week and will just have a combined test of both prefixes and suffixes on Thursday.

Reading: We will be reading short stories on architecture and doing learning activities relating to them.

Math: We will be spending the next two weeks studying 3 digit addition and subtraction, rounding and estimating. There will be a test over the materials the week before Fall Break.

Science: We will be learning about recycling.

  • atlas- a flat map of the world, normally found in a book

Math: Finish up our unit on money. There will be a test over money on Thursday, 9/27/12.

L.A.: Affixes; primarily focusing on prefixes this week.

Science: The Water Cycle

Reading: Finish reading "The Secret of the Painted House." There will be a test over the book on Friday, 9/28/12.

  • window frame- the wood that outlines the glass part of a window 
  • jagged- uneven, rough edges that are normally formed when something breaks unevenly 
  • palette- a plate used to hold different colors of paint for an artist
  • polite- using good manners
  • beg- to ask many times or in a needy voice

    Thank you for all your work with Grandparent's Day! It was wonderful meeting all of the students' grandparents.
